Environment & Sustainability Commitment

At Securemation, we recognise that sustainable business practices are integral to our responsibility as an Australian cybersecurity company. Since our founding in 2006, we have been committed to minimising our environmental footprint while delivering world-class security services to our clients.

Our Commitment to Cloud-First, Green Infrastructure

Securemation operates its platform and core business infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, one of the world’s leading cloud platforms in environmental sustainability. By choosing Azure as our cloud provider, we align our operations with a partner that shares our commitment to a sustainable future:

  • Microsoft has achieved its goal of matching 100% of its global annual electricity consumption with renewable energy, backed by 40GW of contracted clean energy capacity across 26 countries.
  • Microsoft is committed to becoming carbon negative by 2030, meaning they will remove more carbon than they emit.
  • Workloads running on Azure can be up to 98% more carbon efficient and up to 93% more energy efficient compared to on-premises alternatives.
  • Microsoft has also committed to being water positive and zero waste by 2030.

By taking the above approach we eliminated the need for dedicated physical servers, reducing e-waste, energy consumption, and our overall carbon footprint.

Office & Operational Sustainability

We have a sustainability target that includes the following:

  • Reduce water usage in the business by 10% every year.
  • Reduce electricity usage in the business by 10% every year.
  • We currently have a paper-free office and do not have any printers. All workflows — from project management in Azure DevOps to digital document signing and cloud-based collaboration — are digital by design. Our target is to maintain this moving forward.
  • We recycle our waste and will continue to do so, working toward zero waste to landfill.
  • We prefer suppliers and service providers that have an established sustainability commitment for their organisation. Environmental sustainability is a formal consideration in our vendor selection criteria.
  • We encourage that staff learn from the sustainability behaviours at work and adopt them at home.

Digital-First Operations

As a cybersecurity consultancy, our work is inherently digital. We actively reduce our environmental impact through:

  • Cloud-Based Collaboration — All internal project management, documentation, and communication is conducted through cloud platforms, reducing the need for physical materials and travel.
  • Remote & Flexible Work — We support hybrid and remote working arrangements where possible, reducing commute-related emissions for our team.
  • Efficient Software Development — Our development practices prioritise containerised, cloud-native architectures that scale efficiently and avoid over-provisioning of compute resources.
  • We actively encourage our clients to not print our security deliverables as its confidentiality can no longer be protected, this has the additional benefit of reducing needs for paper.

Continuous Improvement

Securemation is committed to reviewing and improving our sustainability practices annually. As our business grows and the technology landscape evolves, we will continue to seek opportunities to reduce our environmental impact, adopt cleaner technologies, and support the broader transition to a sustainable digital economy.
